The Amherst Bands Winter Concert is scheduled for Thursday, December 14th in the HS Cafetorium. Tickets will be sold at the door. THE PRICE FOR ADMISSION WILL BE $2.00. We would like to see as many supporters there as possible. All Band students should report to their assigned area that evening between 6:30 and 6:45 PM. The concert will begin at 7PM and will include the Jazz Bands, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble.
As stated in the syllabus, the dress for the concert is black and white. Concert Attire for Boys: Black Tux, Tux Shirt (buttons not studs), Black Tie, Black Shoes and Black Socks. Concert Attire for Girls: Black Long Length Skirt, Black Shoes, White Blouse or Black Dress Slacks, Black Shoes, White Blouse and/or Wind Ensemble Dresses. We reserve the right to not allow participation due to a violation in the dress code.
Please be reminded that all students are expected to participate. This concert is a part of the final semester grade and worth 50 points. Any EXCUSED absence will be permitted to make up the work lost by doing make-up work before the end of the semester. Any student who is ill must provide me with a written note explaining the illness when they return to school. Please review the class syllabus for strict policies on missing concerts. If an emergency arises, I should be notified as soon as possible. Unexcused absences will not be tolerated!
It is also important to stress that this concert is a combined effort between ALL the Bands. It is proper for an audience to stay for the entire concert giving the Wind Ensemble the same respectful audience as the first Jazz Band. As in the past, 1/3 of the membership will be required to stay and help tear down. You will only do this once and will be permitted to leave immediately after the performance for the other two concerts. A list of names will follow.
